A graduate of New York University and the Landing School, Tim worked as chief engineer and lead design associate for Robert Perry Yacht Designers, Inc (1995-2000). He then worked as a consultant to Morelli and Melvin Design and Engineering, designers of the record breaking maxi-cat Playstation (2000-2003). Kernan Yacht Design was founded in 2003
